  • Overview

    Under general directions of assigned supervision to prepare tool path programs on complex and semi-complex design of product and molds.


    1. Responsible for preparing and generating tool path programs on complex and semi-complex design of product. Also responsible for preparing any and all documents related to program. Incorporate into each program economical practice and simplicity for machining and manufacturing operations.
    2. Responsible for using proper processes in creating tool path. Also responsible for verifying and checking tool path to eliminate as many errors as possible. Must be able to create drawings with proper dimensions and any information for molds.
    3. Accurately interprets blueprints, sketches, layouts and other complicated drawings as needed. Work from verbal instructions, sketched and reference material to modify and fix any tool path problems.
    4. Assist with Coordination in scheduling of shop work. Assists in the coordination of the manufacturability of products with tooling manufacturing, production and production finishing departments and assist in working out any difficulties that could arise.
    5. Work proficiently with Cam software to develop reliable programs .
    6. Responsible for filing documents and electronic files to be used at a later date.
    7. Set-up and operate CNC lathe machine tool for making of machined molds; ability to read special measuring devices.
    8. Experience in functions and operations of Fanuc controls.
    9. Experience in all fixtures used in machining of production items.
    10. Make program changes as needed to enhance machine operations such as feeds, speeds.
    11. Furnishes own tool such as wrenches, pliers, screw drivers, OD mics, ID mics, dial calipers, dial indicators, scale set.
    12. Assist in selection of tooling and supplies needed to operate CNC machines.
    13. Train and assist other operators in functions and operations of CNC machines.
    14. Maintains clean and orderly work area.
    15. Wears required personal protective equipment and follows safety rules and procedures.
    16. Preforms various other duties as required or directed by supervisor.
    17. Demonstrate initiative and self-stariting ability as well as team work.


    Job requires machine shop experience as a CNC operator and must possess basic knowledge of machine tools cutting processes as well as basic machine shop practices. Must have at least 5 years machining cad programming experience. Must pass CNC Journeyman exam with a 70 or better to qualify for the position.
